Every Heart Beats True for the Red, White, and Blue... i heart faces

We decided to visit one of the DC-area's most talked about "hidden gems" this weekend: The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA.  Okay, so it's not quite "hidden," but I find that people always refer to the "Dulles Air & Space Museum" as a place that they've heard is great, but hadn't quite made it all the way out there (you know, the whole 20 minutes outside the beltway!) yet.  Joe has always talked about how he wanted to go out there, so we decided to have a little family outing on Saturday.

We traded photo services with a group of strangers so we could have a group photo in front of the museum (Left); Doodle showing Hubby "A Plane" as we walked in (Top); Me and D in front of the Messerschmidt (Middle); and the two of us in front of the Space Shuttle Enterprise (Bottom)

D and I at the entrance- don't you love the outfit I made her?! (Left); Taking a break in one of the chairs near the planes (Middle); Hubby and Doodle mocking me as I asked to take a photo in front of the X-35 Joint Strike Fighter (Right)

Gramme and Ally came down for a visit Saturday night and we had a girls day at the Leesburg Outlets on Sunday!  After a busy weekend, we opted to spend the 4th of July hanging by the pool (below-left) with Amy, Abe, and Addison and then had a nice relaxing night at home watching Princess and the Frog (for the gazillionth time this week!) and eating "Op-ick-les" (bottom-right)!
